I know a build that is different to that before people started going OBFlesh in DoA.
Winter + GC + Mantra of Frost.
Then the rest of the team was random.

That would rely upon you being hit all the time for energy.
Plus, if you're going to use your elite skill for energy, you might as well run [skill]Prepared Shot[/skill]

@Maverick -- It wasn't used for the energy management, it was mainly used for the damage mitigation from MoF. The enery management was merely a bonus.

I was talking about the OP's desire to use it for energy management, not about the GC + Winter + MoF thing.

Possible, yes, useful, no.
If you want energy and are prepared to waste you're elite for it bring prepared shot, marksmans wager or something like that.
I wouldn't bother and would work out a build that has more damage + utility and e-management.

other non elite option:
[skill]Stone Striker[/skill] + [skill]Storm Chaser[/skill]
works well with other terra tank type skills. If you happen to feel like using Obsidian flesh as well serpents quickness just happens to also be in WS.

Prepshot isn't really a waste.
It works nicely with Ranger Turret (it's actually quite fun in PvE) and also serves as energy management for high energy skills such as Concussion Shot, and PvE only spells (Vanguard wards come to mind).
Apart from that, though -- Expertise should be energy management enough.

You don't really need Prep Shot to use turret in PvE.
Expert Focus @ 15 Expertise and a Zealous Shortbow is enough. Then you can take BHA or another elite.
The PvE spells are better left to N/x's with Soul Reaping and E/x's with Mind Blast.
Concussion Shot doesn't exactly merit Prep Shot. @15 Expertise, with Expert Focus, C-shot costs 9 energy. Since daze lasts for a long time and is all the caster shutdown you will need, you shouldn't need to use it very often.
